Fascia Release and Balance by Eric Franklin

Fascia is a structure of collagen, elastin and water that surrounds muscles, groups of muscles, blood vessels, and nerves. Various kinds of fascia may be distinguished and are classified according to their layers, functions and anatomical location. Fascia can bind some structures together while permitting others to slide smoothly over each other.

Fascia is similar to ligaments and tendons, being made of collagen but the functions are different. Ligaments join bone to bone, tendons join muscle to bone, fascia surrounds everything in the body, organs, muscles, nerves, blood vessels etc..

Fascia is dense regular connective tissue, containing closely packed bundles of collagen fibres arranged multi-directionally in layers. The fascia is a flexible structure able to resist great  tension forces in a multitude of directions.

The health of your fascia affects every movement - supporting your form, carrying force from muscle to tendon to bone. Fascia can become restricted and immobile reducing your ability to perform.

Stretching, massage and strength exercises can release and train the fascia for expansive movement.

Fascia Release and Balance by Eric Franklin will show you how to achieve a healthy fascia
